City Announces Exciting New Study to Determine Whether Previous Study Requires Further Study

The City of Notcross is pleased to announce the next step in its ongoing commitment to thoughtful, data-driven decision-making. On Monday, the Department of Planning & Community Development issued a request for proposals for a comprehensive review of the 2023 Downtown Connectivity Study.

The 2023 study, which was itself commissioned to review the findings of the 2019 Downtown Connectivity Study, identified fourteen opportunities for improved pedestrian connectivity in and around the downtown core. The new review will evaluate whether those fourteen opportunities remain opportunities, and whether the methodology used to identify them would benefit from being identified again.

"Notcross has never been a community that rushes," said the Director of Planning & Community Development. "We owe our residents a process that is deliberate, transparent, and grounded in the best available information. Before we act on a recommendation, we want to be confident that the recommendation is the right recommendation."

The selected consultant will conduct stakeholder interviews, host two public input sessions, and deliver a findings memorandum to City Council. Should the memorandum recommend additional analysis, staff will return to Council with a scope and a schedule.

Funding for the review was included in the current fiscal year budget under the Downtown Connectivity line item, which has carried a balance since 2019.
