Planning Commission Completes Meeting Without Requesting Another Study

The Notcross Planning Commission concluded its regular June meeting in fifty-one minutes, taking final action on all four items on its agenda and requesting no additional analysis of any of them.

The Commission approved a site plan, recommended approval of a rezoning, adopted a set of design guidelines that had been in draft form since 2019, and heard a staff report. No item was tabled. No item was continued. No consultant was engaged.

"There was a moment about thirty minutes in where it felt like we might ask for a traffic study," one commissioner reflected afterward. "You could feel it in the room. But the staff report had already answered the question, so we voted."

The meeting was the eleventh consecutive Planning Commission meeting to conclude without a request for further study. Under the Commission's practice prior to March 2025, the average agenda item was considered at 2.8 separate meetings before receiving final action.

The adopted design guidelines are effective immediately and are available on the City website.

The Commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for September 2. The agenda will be posted the preceding Friday, as it has been every month for sixteen months.
